Learn about factors associated with higher risk of young-onset dementia and the suggested recommendations.

Factors
Recommendation
Social

Social isolation
Lower formal education
Lower socioeconomic status
Socializing, continued education or learning to tickle your brain.

Daily puzzle activity to stimulate your brain.
Genetics

Unchangeable factor
Lab Abnormality

Vitamin D deficiency
High C-reactive protein (CRP) levels
Eco-therapy, being outside to soak in some sun for Vitamin D or supplements.

CRP is inflammatory marker, can be elevated due to lots of disease process, its not specific to any disease.

Regular exercise helps decrease inflammation.
Alcohol Use

Too much alcohol use
NO alcohol use (abstinence)
Moderation is key.

DO NOT start using alcohol based on these factors as no alcohol use as factor was noted in someone with chronic diseases and unable to use alcohol.

A confusing factor.

So recommendation would be to avoid alcohol or in very moderation only.
Physical Strength

Lower hand grip strength
(physical frailty)
Hearing impairment
Regular fitness and exercise to improve physical strength, balance, stability and cardiovascular health.

If any hearing issue, don't ignore it, get audiologic evaluation for solution.
Chronic Disease

Orthostatic hypotension
(a form of low blood pressure)
Depression
Stroke
Diabetes
Heart disease
Managing chronic disease is important. But goal is to delay onset or avoid this disease with regular exercise, nutrition, sleep, mental health management & preventive measures.
